John Courtney

JOHN COURTNEY A.I.M.C., M.A.B.S., MInstD

The Chairman of Strategy Consulting Limited, John Courtney has been a Company Director for over 20 years, including many years as Chairman or Managing Director in his own businesses which have ranged from sporting goods to agricultural chemicals. He has been a Non Executive Director for several SME's.

John has trained at The Academy of Business Strategy, and is an associate of the Institute of Management Consultancy, and a member of the Institute of Directors. He is also a visiting lecturer on the MBA course at Cranfield University School of Management and is also a Judge in The National Business Awards sponsored by Orange.

John has run training seminars at board level on corporate strategy and made presentations to both large and small groups on funding strategies. He brings a wealth of experience, particularly in corporate strategy, funding, business planning, internet strategy and marketing strategy including new product development.

John is an approachable, practical, down to earth consultant comfortable in the board room of plc's as well as helping with implementation with smaller companies.

 

Kath Dawson

KATHRYN DAWSON BSc. (Hons), M.B.A.

Kathryn Dawson is the company's Marketing Director, and she is also an experienced and multi-skilled consultant in her own right. Prior to Strategy Consulting, Kath was head of Strategic Business Analysis and International Client Administration with a multinational corporation and operated in both the UK and USA.

Kath is mainly responsible for client, supplier and associate relationships. Her passion is to deliver effective Search Engine Optimisation for clients.

 

Steph Iles

STEPHANIE ILES

Stephanie's talent is in Sales and Marketing Management. Her career spans almost 20 years and has been split between these two sectors, initially in Media and then in Freight Forwarding. Stephanie also spent 8 years assisting in the rebuilding of the largest Kuwaiti Newspaper's Commercial Press, she then worked in southern California working in Video Production and then in Freight Forwarding.

Stephanie assists our clients by heightening their awareness of the various funding and strategic tools that we work with to ensure that they have the optimum amount of options available to progress their business.

Associate Directors

Ann Godwin

ANN GOODWIN Chartered Marketer, FCIM, DipM

Ann began her long and varied marketing career with household names such as Fisons, RS Components and Bostik. Whilst working for the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, Ann developed and implemented a strategy to communicate the health and safety message both in the UK and overseas to various safety critical industries including construction, rail, oil and healthcare.

Her last position as an employee was as Marketing Director for Catalis Rail Training, an international supplier of training and development services to the rail industry, where Ann had responsibility to develop a management portfolio of services for the newly privatised industry. Clients included Railtrack, Virgin Trains, Amec, Balfour, Alstom and Kier.

Today, Ann advises on strategic marketing direction to meet clients’ business objectives. In addition, Ann overseas the implementation of marketing plans to ensure the various tactical aspects are adopted across the breadth of the marketing mix. Despite holding senior positions, Ann has never lost the ability to 'roll up her sleeves' and deliver cost-effective, practical solutions that work.

In recent years, she has supported clients at both a strategic and tactical level across a number of industries including Construction, NHS and Healthcare, Rail, FMCG, Leisure and IT.

As a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a Chartered Marketer, Ann has lectured for the professional CIM exams and delivered numerous training courses on marketing.

Outside of work, Ann is an avid follower and member of Leicester Tigers and England rugby supporters clubs.

 

David Rich

DAVID RICH F.C.P.I.L, F.I.L.E.X.

David is an Associate Director with Strategy Consulting and an Associate with Beer & Partners. He has helped many businesses obtain funding via private equity investments and the Small Firm’s Loan Guarantee Scheme and is an expert at preparing business plans and forecasts for such applications. His wide expertise and experience are also used to help and advise businesses on how to grow and thrive in today’s competitive marketplace. He is also a business advisor with his activities centred mainly on the internet, software and insurance sectors.

David is a former lawyer with over 20 years in claims related professions, the majority of which was spent with the UK’s leading personal injury law firm. He has for many years regularly written articles on IT and business for various industry journals. He holds a number of board positions and has successfully built and sold a number of his own businesses.

 

Andrew Myall

ANDREW MYALL

Andrew has worked in finance for over 10 years and has succeeded in raising many different kinds of funding for small and medium sized businesses. Having developed over 100 business and financial plans from Florist to International Telecoms Company Andrew's methods and contact base has enabled him to become and accomplished financier.

Andrew has also started several business ventures including Telecoms Infrastructure, Offshore Hedge Funds, Jewellery importers, Investment land and property thus making his knowledge base flexible and wide spread.

Andrew is 40 years old (life begins) and married with three girls all under 9 years of age.

Jane Bromley

JANE BROMLEY Chartered Marketer, DipM, BA Hons

With 19 years business experience, Jane has advised the Boards and Management teams of both blue chip and smaller companies for well over a decade. Having set up a company from scratch, led a European roll out, increased revenues by £millions several times over, helped companies to turn around sliding profits and headed up global product launches, she uses her extensive expertise to help businesses achieve their full potential.

Jane trained at Cranfield University and Ashridge in Breakthrough Business Strategy. One of the very first Chartered Marketers, she has an international reputation for delivering results through effective business strategies and creating compelling value for customers. She lectures on subjects ranging from “What successful companies do differently”, “Bringing business strategy to life” to “Extraordinary Results through customer loyalty”. She is currently writing a book on leadership.

 

Jan Rakowicz

JAN RAKOWICZ MBA

Jan has been a management consultant for the past 15 years, interspersed with a number of interim general management assignments. He has worked for a wide range of organizations including Boston Consulting Group, Societe Generale, a supplier of furniture to IKEA, a corporate finance boutique, the European Patent Office and primary healthcare.

Jan has worked in Western and Central Europe and speaks fluent English, Polish, French and German. His special interests are organisation strategy, implementation of change, and aligning the purpose of the organisation with that of its stakeholders.

 

Dinah Tobias

DINAH TOBIAS

Dinah understands the challenges of both global corporate and small business environments, with over 15 years of marketing and business development experience. Her background includes 5 years with major IT services organisation, LogicaCMG, where she was responsible for global marketing development. Prior to this, she worked in consultancy firms and a large publishing and conference company, driving both the marketing strategy and delivering on the client and product development side.

Her expertise spans from developing and analysing business plans and marketing strategies, to helping organisations review their account management planning. She has worked on a number of rebranding and corporate positioning programmes and has taken numerous new products and propositions to market. She specialises in MA integration and change management projects from a marketing and communications perspective, having worked on one global merger and several acquisitions across three continents. She is a marketing generalist with a commercial and business development approach, able to tackle projects from both the strategic and tactical aspects.

Dinah is fluent in French and has worked on projects all over the world, applying her knowledge of different cultures to business practice. As a qualified performance coach, her skills support business people to achieve their professional and personal goals.

 

Paula Howson

PAULA HOWSON FCA

Paula is an FCA with more than 25 years corporate experience, including Board level positions in PR and Interactive Television. Her background includes two roles in the telecoms sector, working with high growth companies through start up to flotation.

As well as working within highly structured blue chip organizations Paula has more recently supported a number of SME's and is able to match the necessary controls and governance with the flexibility demanded in a start up with limited resources.

Paula's skills and experience enable her to challenge the financial assumptions, build dynamic models and create robust yet flexible financial forecasts for clients. She will also help you identify the type of finance which really meets your requirements and will work with you to deliver the solution, providing all the support you need along the way.

 

Peter Kelly

PETER KELLY FInst, SMM

Peter has more than 30 years of corporate experience, including European Managing Director and European Vice President roles, in leading companies in the Multimedia, Document and Training Management, Online Auctions, Telecommunications and Global Sourcing sectors.

This experience encompasses the creation of the start-up operations throughout Europe right through to final IPO or trade sale.

Peter specialises in helping other start-up and growth companies to prepare themselves for funding and to introduce them to sources of finance. In particular Peter uses his experience to guide companies through the business plan writing process and the challenge of not only presenting to investors but also of being well prepared for the unexpected questions that will follow.

 

Alan Cottle

ALAN COTTLE MCMI

Alan has more than 30 years experience in both large and SME businesses. He has worked in a FTSE 100 company at senior level and has started and built a specialist engineering business taking it to a turnover of £2m and 22 staff. The company provided equipment to multi national customers in the automotive, oil and marine sectors and was a significant exporter.

His experience includes business start-ups and acquisition, managing growth businesses, project management, logistics management and quality systems. He understands the issues facing growth businesses and strategic financial resource planning to achieve growth potential.

He has experience in raising funds for businesses with growth potential and can use his experience to guide companies through the fund raising process and support them through out the negotiation process with potential funders.

 

Danny Davis

DANNY DAVIS MBA, Bsc(Hons), DipM, MCIM, MCMI, Cmgr, Chartered Marketer

Danny specialises in the integration of business units, departments, functions, process, IT and systems having run the merger of BP/Castrol across Europe ($101m spend, 180 projects), EMAP, Alcatel. He has also project managed some of the largest change programmes on the planet ($525m global spend).

Danny lectures at London Business School on the Strategy and M&A/JV courses to MBA, Exec MBA, Global Exec MBA, Sloane and Masters in Finance programmes. He is on the board of the Chartered Management Institute (70,000 members) as a Non Exec and was in the England water polo squad for a decade, captaining his club in the European cup.

 

Ray Clancy

RAY CLANCY

Ray is a PR specialist and has 20 years experience in Fleet Street working for the Press Association, The Times, The Daily Telegraph and the Mail on Sunday. She is a regular contributor to The Sun, Sunday Express and Family Circle magazine. She specialises in tailor-made articles that give clients control over what appears in publications and works with photographers and marketing specialists. Ray also provides media awareness seminars. She is a mentor for the Prince's Trust.

 

 

Mark Wing

MARK WING

Mark consults on both image and culture. He helps organisations market themselves, their products and their services more effectively as a brand.

His driving passion is to produce Marques of excellence. He does this by defining how the principles that drive your brand, both internally and externally, are aligned to your brand promise.

He graduated in 1985 and worked with Enterprise IG for 7 years and Wolff Olins for 6 years before becoming Head of Design at Conran Design Group.

In recent years Mark has worked as an independent brand strategy consultant, helping clients define the desired customer experience for their services, both on and off-line. He has also led culture change programmes, brand engagement projects and defined a variety of internal communication campaigns to support these. He is understandably very proud of the high profile brand identities he has helped to create over the years.

 

David Regler

DAVID REGLER

David's background extends over 17 years in sales management, ranging from small and medium sized businesses to international organisations. Always a hands-on sales leader, David has recruited and managed sales teams to exceed targets and drive revenue growth in competitive business-to-business environments.

Since 2005 David has worked as a management consultant specialising in sales strategy, operations and execution. His client portfolio ranges from start-ups & emerging companies, through to established firms needing to re-start or turnaround sales performance. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Sales & Marketing Management.

He has start-up, JV, emerging market, growth and mature companies experience with both public and privately held organisations. He is commercially focused on behalf of his clients and has excellent analytical, problem solving, communication and relationship building skills.

Nik has more than 20 years corporate experience in industry with leading multi-nationals in manufacturing and supply chain services sectors. He has worked for more than a decade in Managing Director / Regional Vice President roles in UK, North America, Europe and the Far East.

 

Anthony Carnell

Anthony is a Human Resources Professional with 18 years blue-chip and high technology experience operating across cultural and business sectors, with particular expertise in learning, performance management, OD, on-line HR applications (e.HR), career development and HR strategy. Anthony has worked in line, HR Director and consulting roles. A very confident communicator with a logical mind, Anthony is known for his positive behaviour, energy and personal drive.

Anthony is a member of the CIPD and is highly prized for his breadth of experience, ability to influence throughout organisational hierarchies, his wide-ranging client base, and his presence in Boardroom and in line contexts.
